Last update: May, 2008

This shot was taken for an article which appeared in Senior Living magazine in June,2006 in British Columbia. about our work n Africa.

Do you like the necklace I am wearing in the picture? This is the work of Julius who creates his wonderful designs in the area where I work in Africa. I sell his jewelry to raise funds. Here is his picture in his work hut. Click to enlarge it.

KENYA IN TURMOIL

We worked in Kakamega for three months in 2007. We left Kenya over Christmas 2007 and returned on December 31 to chaos after the elections. This picture is of a road block in Kisumu--our destination on January 1st, 2008. We had to wait 6 days in Nairobi while we decided what to do. Eventually we returned to Kakamega with an armed escort, but things remained volatile.

During our shortened time of some four months, we were able to put in three new wells. We have a list of thirteen sites requesting water.

For just about $2500 we can bring safe, clean water to a rural community. I have added a report on the  wells we installed in rural villages and a description of the communities awaiting a well.

We have a new organization called KEEF (Kenya Education Endowment Fund), through which donors can support a student (boy or girl) in High School or post secondary training. For more information about KEEF go to: www.kenyaeducationfund.blogspot.com. A web site is coming soon.

We have been experimenting an HIV/AIDS awareness curriculum. It is hard to believe that Kenya has no direct teaching to young people on this topic. Here is a picture of the teachers who are working with me.

In January 2007 these teachers conducted a successful seminar for their colleagues. We plan to do more this coming year.

JOURNEYS END: Imagine this...You're minding your own business, walking the dog when you bump into Mr. Tall, Dark and Mysterious. The next thing you know, you open your eyes and you and your dog are 400 years in the past...'

A SUITABLE FATHER is a terrific tale of true love. It started off with a bang and had me stuck to my seat. I was not able to put the book down because I had to find out what was going to happen next with Kurt and Maggie. Mrs. Crossley adds just the right touch of suspense and action without taking away from the romance. She has a great way with writing her characters' emotions that has your heart reaching out to them. This book has a place on my keeper shelf and I will definitely be looking for more of her work. mendi@romancejunkies.com

DANCING WITH THE DEVIL: This is a great read, darkly suspenseful, full of mystery, and passionate love. A sinister, insane man comes back into the life of the woman he tortured in the past, intent on gaining back what he deems as his ‘lost love’ .....This is a definite recommend to lovers of the suspense romance genre, Reviewed by Kari Thomas
