Julius works in the Western Province of Kenya near Kakamega and close to Lake Victoria. He trained as a jeweler and enjoyed success in Nairobi until his kiosk and all his stock were lost in an wide scale, arbitrary rampage of destruction by city authorities. He returned to his home village and has spent many hours designing and producing quality work. He works from home, a mud house surrounded by a small plot of tilled land. He beats every piece of brass wire by hand and shapes it into the whirls and curves you see in his exquisite necklaces and earrings. All five of his children work with him. Unemployment is high in his home area, and Julius’s dream is to have enough work that he can ensure his children’s education and can also begin to train some talented boys in his village.

Proceeds from the sale of this jewelry provide scholarships for needy girls in Julius’ area as well as meeting other needs. We have deepened four dry wells to provide water, sent three boys to school or university and provided many loans and gifts. BRACELETS AND EARRINGS

My apologies if some images are a little fuzzy. Our camera broke during our last stay in Africa and I had to use a poorer quality one to take these shots. They can be enlarged with a click.
